Welcome to the blog of Devon Wedding photographers

What an honour it was to be the photographer on Saturday 8th April for an undoubtably brilliant couple. Hannah and Dan booked us last summer and from the word go I’ve been excited to watch/photograph them get married.

After a meeting with them on the Wednesday prior to their wedding we both knew that it was going to be great fun.

On the morning of the wedding Amy and I both met Hannah and her bridal party in her parents house that which happened to be close to the church too. We got there 2 hours before the ceremony to photograph them getting ready, however they were all very organised and didn’t have much else to be doing to finalise their look other than a few finishing touches.

Once they were all dressed we took photos out on their lawn, with the spring/summer sunshine beaming down.

They had their wedding ceremony in Fairplace church, Okehampton, Devon. I would jump at the chance to photograph another wedding in Fairplace Church; so light and spacious, which is something so many churches cannot boast!

After the ceremony we went on our way to Roadford Lake, Roadford Lake should definitely be a consideration if you’re wanting a wedding in Devon, it has far stretching views with a wonderful lake/reservoir in it’s fore ground. For photographs of just the couple I like to go on a short walk around the edge to the reservoir that is lined with beautiful mature trees.

The evening came and we were lucky enough that the weather was still on our side (as it had been all day!) and with the sun setting we took Hannah and Dan down to the edge of the water to get a couple more photos – I love doing this, especially at Roadford as there is always a perfect reflection too. Taking photos later in the day always guarantees us that everyone is more relaxed which helps for us to take more natural photos with unposed smiles.

After the first dance had happened along with some very synchronised dancing from Hannah’s friends we called it a day and headed home…that was after an obligatory photo booth photo!

Best Wishes
