The Blog of Devon Wedding Photographers
A wedding in Surrey was a bit of a change for us, we know every backroad, corner and turn in Devon but on Friday we head up the A303 to the beautiful Goldalming for Saturday’s wedding.
When we got there we went straight to see their reception venue which was in Plaistow so a bit more Sussex than Surrey. The venue was called Rumbold’s Barn and was located on a Stud Farm. When you entered the farm there was no indication that their was going to be a wonderful converted barn and accommodation there. We had a little look around whilst Sarah (bride) and Ian (groom) along with their friends and family set up the venue and got everything prepared for the next day. Once they were all done you could clearly see how wonderful the next day was going to be and how their vision for everything had come together superbly. We then went to see the church that they were going to be getting married in the next day. The church was in Busbridge which was about 20mins from the venue and about 10mins from Sarah’s parents house.
Amy and I sat through the rehearsal and loved watching on as the realisation of what would be happening the next day became apparent for the couple. It’s a beautiful thing being part of someones wedding but seeing all the behind the scenes moments like these make it even better.
That evening we all had a lovely meal cooked by Sarah’s Mum Linda in their family home. We were staying across the road with a super lovely couple called Liz and Richard who had built their home, which as you can imagine for a Surrey Barn conversion was idyllic.
Saturday morning we went across the road to meet the bridal party all getting ready.
Amy went and met the boys at the church so I stayed with the girls and came to the church in a lovely vintage car along with Sarah and her father James.
Sarah wore a lace dress with a open lace back and satin buttons from the top down to the bottom of her back. Her bridesmaids were in navy long dresses from Debenhams with cute navy cardigans that also had a lace back.
After a beautiful service we did our usual routine of taking only a couple staged photos at the church and then going straight into the confetti photos. Waiting until we were at the venue to do all the group photos that they were wanting.
After a fun afternoon tea followed by entertaining speeches we were able to capture photos of just Sarah and Ian in the evening sunshine that was setting perfectly at the Farm.
Surrey truly is a special and beautiful place and one we are happy to return to any time!
